The Textile Industry Federation recently proposed to the Democratic Party leader, Abhisit, that the new government should continue to strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand's industrial chain, although Thailand is currently in the process.

Upstream industry chain to dominate ASEAN, but the future situation is not optimistic, especially the United States to support Vietnam's accession.

TPP

After that, if Thailand fails to catch the train of TPP member countries, Thailand will eventually lose its dominant position in the textile industry.

Dr. Li Tianwen, the leader of the Democratic Party and the head of the party's economic team, visited the Thailand Textile Industry Federation (TTIS) on the 19 th of this month to listen to the views of the businessmen on the national economic development policy.

As an industry organization of the Federation of industry in Thailand, the Federation led by TTIS President Songsa to Abhisit and Dr. Li Tianwen to explain the problems faced by the textile industry, the expectations for national policies and the future development direction of the industry.

Song SA pointed out that Thailand is currently the most complete, most complete and competitive textile industry in the 10 ASEAN countries, especially the upstream industry in the textile industry, that is, production.

The industrial industry, Thailand is the dominant country in ASEAN countries, and the only country that can compete with Thailand is Indonesia.

But the future development of Thailand's textile upstream industry also has hidden problems. In the next 10 years, Vietnam will become a strong competitor in the textile industry. As Taiwan, the United States and other countries have begun to invest in Vietnam to set up factories and develop the textile industry chain, and Vietnam has been supported by the United States and joined the TPP (p Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement), if Vietnam successfully completes the accession negotiation process, it will take advantage of its exports to the United States, and Thailand will lose almost all of its export market.

TTIS management pointed out that more than 10 textile upstream enterprises in Thailand have invested and set up factories in Vietnam. Although Vietnamese factories do not yet have the advantage of price or labor cost, far sighted manufacturers must be able to provide more diverse choices for future customers. All actions need to be taken first.

TTIS management also pointed out that Thailand has built up a strong basic industrial strength with decades of investment. If it does not take the initiative to cope with the situation ahead of time, it will surely lose the status of ASEAN's textile power in the future.

For TPP, the industry believes that the government should also take action from now on to express its wish to join TPP as soon as possible and initiate the process of accession.

Abhisit pointed out that the US led TPP has strong political implications.

Obviously, the intention of the us to push TPP is not to let China dominate the economic order of the whole world, and there are many uncontrollable links and factors to join the TPP. For example, it must be unanimously recognized by the current 4 sponsors and 8 countries that have joined the negotiation.

In any case, Thailand should not let go of any opportunity. Now the government should express its willingness to join the negotiations as soon as possible, at least to see a clear investment direction for the industry side.
